Journey

Ever wondered how a sportsperson could compete for India over four decades? Representing India in three summer Olympic Games, eight Asian Games and numerous International events, Farokh realised that health and fitness  stood between his passion for racing. His obsession with health and fitness ensured that he never missed a race due to sickness or injury.

Born in a small village in Satpati near the beach his love for the sea started early. He joined  the Sea Cadet Corps in 1971.   His seniors noticed his talent  early and started  grooming him to compete for India at the International level. This was the beginning of many laurels Farokh brought  for the country.

By the age of fifteen he had won the First Asian Sailing Championship and by  sixteen he was the first Indian to win a medal at the World Championship for India. Soon after that he joined the prestigious National Defence Academy and was commissioned as an officer in the Indian Navy.

During his time in the Indian Navy, he grabbed the opportunity to pursue his racing career and at the 1982 Asian Games won a gold medal for India. This is  the first and only Gold medal won by India at the Asian Games in Sailing till date.  Completely focused, he went on to win five World Championship medals, five Asian games medals and eight Asian Championship medals for India. A feat achieved by none in Asia. He has also won more than thirty  National titles. He is honoured with the prestigious Chhatrapati Shivaji Award and the  Arjuna Award in the field of Yachting.

His philosophy: " You cannot change the wind but you can always adjust your sails"

His philosophy on health "If you give the body the right amount of nutrition and the right amount of exercise, not too much and not too little, you would have found the safest way to good health"

His philosophy on abdominal muscles " Everyone has a six pack, you just have to remove the excess around it."

He is a fitness enthusiast and hence was able to represent India for four decades at the International level.  He is a life coach to hundreds  of  people. He often tells people who look at boats from the shore to change their perspective and look at the shore from a boat. He applies the same principle in his life and along with his wife Anahita help scores of people to make a difference to their lives by being healthy and fit.
